Allahabad HC: No Interference with Azan if Noise Norms Followed

Hindustan Times · india

The Allahabad High Court has directed Saharanpur police and district administration not to interfere with the right to recite Azan five times daily at a mosque. This directive is conditional on petitioners complying with prescribed noise limits and a 2020 court judgment regarding loudspeaker use. The court issued this order while disposing of a writ petition filed by local residents who alleged obstruction by authorities. The state government argued it was enforcing noise rules, not restricting Azan itself. Petitioners assured full compliance with noise limits and judicial directions.
