Hindustan Times · environment

A Royal Bengal tiger cub, estimated to be seven to eight months old, was rescued from an empty house in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district. Heavy rains had apparently driven the cub out of the Similipal Tiger Reserve and into the village of Khaparkhai. Villagers alerted forest officials after spotting the cub near their homes. The cub, found to be unwell, has been taken to the Thakurmunda forest range office for veterinary examination and treatment. It will be rehabilitated in a larger enclosure within the reserve once it recovers.
