The husband allegedly sent the notice because the woman failed to provide an additional dowry of ₹10 lakh. He also published an advertisement in a regional newspaper to announce the divorce. The woman's father, an advocate, stated that this method of triple talaq, especially within a year of marriage and without adhering to Sharia law, is illegal.

तेलंगाना के करीमनगर में एक मुस्लिम महिला को कथित तौर पर सऊदी अरब में रहने वाले अपने पति से रजिस्टर्ड पोस्ट के जरिए तीन तलाक का नोटिस मिला है। पति पर आरोप है कि महिला ₹10 लाख का अतिरिक्त दहेज नहीं दे पाई, इसलिए उसने यह नोटिस भेजा। उसने तलाक की घोषणा के लिए एक क्षेत्रीय समाचार पत्र में विज्ञापन भी प्रकाशित करवाया। महिला के पिता, जो एक वकील हैं, ने कहा कि शादी के एक साल के भीतर और शरिया कानून का पालन किए बिना इस तरह से तीन तलाक देना अवैध है।
