Chandigarh Housing Board Allows Lifts in Flats, Even on Govt Land

Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has approved the installation of lifts in all CHB flats and dwelling units, addressing the growing need for accessibility, especially for the elderly and disabled. The board will permit the use of adjoining government land where constructing a lift within the building line is impractical. This decision applies only to CHB-built properties and does not involve transferring ownership of government land. Residents must apply through registered architects with structural stability certificates, and CHB will process applications within 30 days.

चंडीगढ़ हाउसिंग बोर्ड (CHB) ने सभी CHB फ्लैटों और आवास इकाइयों में लिफ्ट लगाने की मंजूरी दे दी है, ताकि बढ़ती पहुंच की ज़रूरत को पूरा किया जा सके, खासकर बुजुर्गों और दिव्यांगों के लिए। बोर्ड आस-पास की सरकारी ज़मीन के इस्तेमाल की इजाज़त देगा जहाँ इमारत की लाइन के अंदर लिफ्ट बनाना मुश्किल है। यह फैसला सिर्फ CHB द्वारा बनाए गए प्रॉपर्टी पर लागू होता है और इसमें सरकारी ज़मीन का मालिकाना हक़ नहीं बदला जाएगा। निवासियों को स्ट्रक्चरल स्टेबिलिटी सर्टिफिकेट के साथ रजिस्टर्ड आर्किटेक्ट के ज़रिए आवेदन करना होगा, और CHB 30 दिनों के अंदर आवेदनों पर कार्रवाई करेगा।
