A ground report by News18 India has uncovered a significant disparity between the MRP of medicines and their actual selling price. Retail chemists revealed that medicines with high MRPs are often purchased wholesale at drastically lower rates, sometimes as low as 20% of the printed price. For example, a medicine with an MRP of ₹14,000 is bought wholesale for ₹1,550 and sold to customers for ₹1,700.
