A pharmaceutical company in Kochi has reportedly lost ₹99 lakh due to an alleged impersonation fraud on WhatsApp. The incident occurred on October 16 when an unidentified fraudster hacked the accounts department's mobile phone. The accused saved a number as the CEO's, using his WhatsApp display picture, and then instructed an employee to transfer the funds. Kochi City Cyber police have registered a case under the IT Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a complaint. The investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrator behind this sophisticated financial scam.

कोच्चि की एक फार्मास्युटिकल कंपनी ने कथित तौर पर WhatsApp पर हुई CEO की पहचान चुराने वाली धोखाधड़ी में ₹99 लाख गंवा दिए हैं। यह घटना 16 अक्टूबर को हुई जब एक अज्ञात धोखेबाज ने अकाउंट्स विभाग के मोबाइल फोन को हैक कर लिया। आरोपी ने CEO की WhatsApp डिस्प्ले पिक्चर का इस्तेमाल करके एक नंबर को CEO के नाम से सेव किया और फिर एक कर्मचारी को पैसे ट्रांसफर करने का निर्देश दिया। कोच्चि सिटी साइबर पुलिस ने शिकायत के बाद IT Act और भारतीय न्याय संहिता के तहत मामला दर्ज कर लिया है। इस चालाकी भरे वित्तीय घोटाले के पीछे के अपराधी की पहचान करने और उसे पकड़ने के लिए जांच जारी है।
