UPI To Introduce Merchant Discount Rate From Oct

Starting October 15, UPI will introduce a Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on select person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions. Merchants will be charged 0.4% on UPI payments above ₹2,000, capped at ₹300 for transactions of ₹75,000 or more. This change aims to create a sustainable financial model for UPI infrastructure. Person-to-person (P2P) transactions and payments to small merchants will remain free. UPI apps cannot charge consumers any platform fees.

अक्टूबर से UPI पर कुछ मर्चेंट पेमेंट्स पर MDR लागू होगा। ₹2,000 से ज़्यादा के पेमेंट्स पर मर्चेंट्स को 0.4% चार्ज देना होगा, जो ₹75,000 या उससे ज़्यादा के ट्रांजैक्शन पर ₹300 तक सीमित रहेगा। यह UPI इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर को बेहतर बनाने के लिए है। लोगों से लोगों को या छोटे मर्चेंट्स को पेमेंट पहले की तरह फ्री रहेगा। UPI ऐप्स ग्राहकों से कोई फीस नहीं ले सकते।
