Former Agriculture Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy stated that some mandals experienced severe rainfall deficits and demanded the inclusion of 35 such mandals. District officials reportedly cited unusual reasons for the exclusion. The party submitted a representation to District Collector Himanshu Shukla, urging the government to reconsider the decision amid El Niño conditions. The assessment criteria for drought-affected mandals include rainfall deficit, dry spells, and crop yield loss.

नेल्लोर में वाईएसआरसीपी नेताओं ने राज्य सरकार के उस फैसले का विरोध किया है जिसमें जिले को 388 सूखा प्रभावित मंडलों की सूची से बाहर रखा गया है। पूर्व कृषि मंत्री काकानी गोवर्धन रेड्डी ने कहा कि कुछ मंडलों में भारी बारिश की कमी देखी गई और उन्होंने ऐसे 35 मंडलों को शामिल करने की मांग की। सूत्रों के मुताबिक, जिला अधिकारियों ने इस बहिष्कार के लिए असामान्य कारण बताए। पार्टी ने जिला कलेक्टर हिमांशु शुक्ला को एक ज्ञापन सौंपा, जिसमें एल नीनो की स्थिति के बीच सरकार से इस फैसले पर पुनर्विचार करने का आग्रह किया गया। सूखा प्रभावित मंडलों के मूल्यांकन मानदंडों में बारिश की कमी, सूखे की अवधि और फसल की पैदावार का नुकसान शामिल है।
