Rare Butterfly Sighted In Tamil Nadu's Villupuram

A rare philomela form of the Common Wanderer butterfly, Pareronia hippia, has been documented for the first time in Poothurai, Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu. Butterfly enthusiast Smita Rani Mishra observed and photographed the specimen at Matur Udyanam. Noted lepidopterist Isaac Kehimkar confirmed the identification. This sighting expands the known occurrence of this rare form in southern India and highlights the ecological value of green spaces.

तमिलनाडु के विल्लुपुरम में दुर्लभ तितली देखी गई

तमिलनाडु के विल्लुपुरम जिले के पूथुराई में पहली बार कॉमन वांडरर तितली की एक दुर्लभ प्रजाति, पैरोनिया हिप्पिया देखी गई है। स्मिता रानी मिश्रा नाम की तितली प्रेमी ने इसे माथुर उद्यानम में देखा और उसकी तस्वीरें खींचीं। प्रसिद्ध तितली विशेषज्ञ इसाक केहिंकर ने इसकी पहचान की पुष्टि की है। यह दक्षिण भारत में इस दुर्लभ प्रजाति के पाए जाने के क्षेत्र को बढ़ाता है और हरे-भरे स्थानों के महत्व को दर्शाता है।
