Centre Sanctions ₹1,175 Crore For Six-Lane Teesta Bridge In West Bengal

The Central government has approved ₹1,175 crore for the construction of a 6.91-km-long, six-lane bridge across the River Teesta in Darjeeling district, West Bengal. This new bridge at Sevoke on NH-10 aims to significantly improve connectivity between the Siliguri corridor, Sikkim, and the Northeast. It will ease traffic on the existing Coronation Bridge and reduce travel distance by approximately 10 km. The project is expected to boost regional integration, trade, tourism, and socio-economic development.

केंद्र सरकार ने पश्चिम बंगाल के दार्जिलिंग जिले में तीस्ता नदी पर 6.91 किलोमीटर लंबे, छह-लेन पुल के निर्माण के लिए ₹1,175 करोड़ की मंजूरी दी है। NH-10 पर सेवोक में बना यह नया पुल सिलीगुड़ी कॉरिडोर, सिक्किम और पूर्वोत्तर के बीच कनेक्टिविटी को काफी बेहतर बनाएगा। इससे मौजूदा कोरोनेशन ब्रिज पर यातायात का दबाव कम होगा और यात्रा की दूरी लगभग 10 किलोमीटर कम हो जाएगी। इस परियोजना से क्षेत्रीय एकीकरण, व्यापार, पर्यटन और सामाजिक-आर्थिक विकास को बढ़ावा मिलने की उम्मीद है।
