Global Nature Talks Reach Agreement, But Funding Remains a Major Hurdle

BBC World · world

Delegates from nearly 200 countries have agreed on key parts of a new action plan for nature in Yerevan, Armenia. This deal comes four years after a landmark agreement to halt and reverse nature's decline, which included protecting 30% of the world's land and seas by 2030. However, nations are currently on track to achieve only one of the 24 targets set in the previous framework. While countries acknowledged falling behind, they also recognised that a lack of funding is the main barrier to accelerating conservation efforts.
