Gujarat HC Dismisses Kejriwal's Plea Against ₹25,000 Cost in Modi Degree Case

The Gujarat High Court has dismissed a plea by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal challenging a ₹25,000 cost imposed on him. The court stated that a political leader cannot use statutory proceedings for political interests. The bench noted that Kejriwal's response to the Chief Information Commission and his pursuit of the matter indicated his intentions. Kejriwal had appealed against a previous order that quashed a 2016 CIC direction asking Gujarat University to disclose details of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's degrees.

गुजरात हाई कोर्ट ने आम आदमी पार्टी (आप) के संयोजक अरविंद केजरीवाल की ₹25,000 का जुर्माना लगाने के खिलाफ दायर याचिका खारिज कर दी है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि एक राजनीतिक नेता को अपने राजनीतिक हितों के लिए कानूनी कार्यवाही का इस्तेमाल नहीं करना चाहिए। बेंच ने कहा कि केजरीवाल की मुख्य सूचना आयुक्त को दी गई प्रतिक्रिया और मामले को आगे बढ़ाने से उनके इरादे का पता चलता है। केजरीवाल ने उस पिछले आदेश के खिलाफ अपील की थी जिसने गुजरात यूनिवर्सिटी को प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की डिग्री का विवरण बताने के 2016 के CIC के निर्देश को रद्द कर दिया था।
