Punjab Appoints Anganwadi Workers as Drug Prevention Volunteers

Punjab's government is expanding its anti-drug campaign by appointing Anganwadi workers as 'Nasha Mukti Mitras'. These volunteers will focus on community-level prevention, spreading awareness about substance abuse and identifying early warning signs. Social Security Minister Baljit Kaur felicitated 20 workers for their contributions. The initiative complements enforcement and rehabilitation efforts by strengthening prevention through community participation and promoting sports and recreation. The government aims to create an environment where young people have access to support and resources to avoid addiction.
