Panchayat Land To Power Rural EV Push Under Centre-CESL Pact
The Hindu · india
The Indian government is enabling Gram Panchayats to develop EV charging and battery-swapping stations on their land, promoting clean mobility in rural areas and creating new revenue for local bodies. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj and CESL have partnered to extend the electric mobility ecosystem beyond cities to villages. This initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions and accelerate India's transition to cleaner transportation. The proposed facilities will support various electric vehicles, strengthening EV adoption in rural and semi-urban regions.
