EU Lifts Sanctions on Russian Oligarchs Usmanov, Fridman

The European Union has agreed to extend sanctions against approximately 3,000 Russian individuals and entities for 36 months, until September 22, 2029. However, as part of a compromise, sanctions were lifted on two Russian oligarchs, Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman. France and Luxembourg reportedly pushed for these exemptions, citing national security and legal challenges respectively. Ukraine strongly condemned the decision, calling it "shameful and unjustifiable" and a victory for Moscow.
