नेपाल में विनाशकारी आपदा के बाद, शहरी योजनाकार दिकशू सी कुकरेजा ने भारत से हिमालयी विकास पर फिर से विचार करने को कहा है। उन्होंने जोर दिया कि पहाड़ी इलाके नाजुक होते हैं और मैदानी इलाकों से अलग योजना की जरूरत है। कुकरेजा ने सड़कों, शहरों और बुनियादी ढांचे को हिमालय की अनूठी स्थलाकृति और खतरों को ध्यान में रखकर डिजाइन करने के लिए "तत्काल युद्ध स्तर" पर काम करने की वकालत की है।
