Kerala CM Promises Fishermen's Lives Will Improve With Vizhinjam Port Development

Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has assured that the lives of the Vizhinjam fishing community will improve alongside the development of the international port. He announced a total of ₹510 crore allocated for various projects benefiting the fishermen. These include ₹260 crore for a new fishing harbour, ₹90 crore for renovating the old one, and ₹125 crore for constructing groynes. An additional ₹35 crore will compensate for kerosene costs due to longer routes during construction. The government also plans academic programs to secure port-related jobs for coastal youth.

केरल के मुख्यमंत्री वी. डी. सतीसन ने आश्वासन दिया है कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय बंदरगाह के विकास के साथ-साथ विझिंजम मछली पकड़ने वाले समुदाय के जीवन में सुधार होगा। उन्होंने मछुआरों को लाभ पहुंचाने वाली विभिन्न परियोजनाओं के लिए कुल ₹510 करोड़ आवंटित करने की घोषणा की। इनमें ₹260 करोड़ एक नए मछली पकड़ने वाले बंदरगाह के लिए, ₹90 करोड़ पुराने के नवीनीकरण के लिए, और ₹125 करोड़ ग्रॉइन के निर्माण के लिए शामिल हैं। निर्माण के दौरान लंबी दूरी के कारण केरोसिन की लागत की भरपाई के लिए अतिरिक्त ₹35 करोड़ दिए जाएंगे। सरकार तटीय युवाओं के लिए बंदरगाह से संबंधित नौकरियां सुरक्षित करने के लिए शैक्षणिक कार्यक्रमों की भी योजना बना रही है।
