US Blacklists Chinese VC Firm Over Ties to Google AI Secrets Thief

The US Department of State has blacklisted Shanghai Zhisuan Technology Company, a Chinese AI startup, and its seed funder MiraclePlus. This action penalizes the fund, founded by former Microsoft AI scientist Lu Qi, for financing Zhisuan. Zhisuan is linked to Ding Linwei, an ex-Google engineer convicted of stealing proprietary AI secrets. Ding allegedly used his inside knowledge of Google's technology to secure backing from MiraclePlus. The enforcement measures could freeze US assets and impose international banking restrictions on the blacklisted entities.
