Farmer Pappu Tanti from Jamui explains that button mushrooms are preferred over oyster mushrooms due to their superior taste, often called 'vegetarian mutton,' leading to higher market demand and prices. While oyster mushrooms sell for around ₹100 per kg, button mushrooms fetch ₹150 to ₹180 per kg in wholesale.

बटन मशरूम को बहुत मुनाफे वाली फसल बताया जा रहा है, खासकर सर्दियों में जब तापमान इसके बढ़ने के लिए एकदम सही होता है। जमुई के किसान पप्पू तांती बताते हैं कि ऑयस्टर मशरूम के मुकाबले बटन मशरूम को लोग ज़्यादा पसंद करते हैं क्योंकि इसका स्वाद 'वेज मटन' जैसा होता है, जिससे बाज़ार में इसकी मांग और कीमत दोनों ज़्यादा मिलती है। जहाँ ऑयस्टर मशरूम करीब ₹100 प्रति किलो बिकता है, वहीं बटन मशरूम थोक में ₹150 से ₹180 प्रति किलो तक बिक जाता है।
