बीजेपी नेता स्मृति ईरानी ने कांग्रेस पर आरोप लगाया कि वह मृत मतदाताओं और डुप्लिकेट नामों को चुनावी पर्चियों में बनाए रखने की मांग करके भारत की चुनावी प्रणाली को कमजोर कर रही है। उन्होंने कांग्रेस के रुख पर सवाल उठाया और कहा कि जनता का समर्थन हासिल करने में विफल रहने के बाद पार्टी चुनाव आयोग पर हमला कर रही है। ईरानी ने इस बात पर प्रकाश डाला कि चुनाव आयोग ने मतदाता की स्थिति को सत्यापित करने की अपनी प्रक्रिया को स्पष्ट किया है, जिसमें बूथ स्तर के अधिकारियों द्वारा व्यक्तिगत दौरे भी शामिल हैं। पर्चियों से हटाए गए 13 करोड़ से अधिक नामों को बहाल करने की कांग्रेस की मांग की भी आलोचना की गई।
