US Trade Rep: India Trade Deal Not Imminent Despite Progress
The Hindu - Business · business
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer stated that a trade deal with India is not imminent, despite ongoing negotiations and a "constructive conversation" with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. Greer indicated that while they are in the "short strokes" of finalising the agreement, significant sticking points remain. He mentioned that President Trump and Prime Minister Modi had a constructive call and may speak again soon. The deal has faced delays since February 2025 due to various U.S. tariff actions and differing priorities.
