Residents of Umadi village in Maharashtra's Sangli district are alarmed after a well began emitting a petrol-like liquid instead of water. The flammable substance floats on the water's surface and burns rapidly when exposed to flame. Initial suspicions of a leak from a nearby HPCL petrol pump were dismissed after authorities found no issues with the underground tank. The administration is now investigating the source of the mysterious liquid, which has also imparted a strong petrol-like odour to the well water.
