Kodagu police have apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals, two of whom are children, for allegedly residing illegally in the district. The group was reportedly posing as labourers from Assam and working on a plantation in Kottigeri. After failing to produce valid documents when questioned by local activists, they were handed over to the police. Preliminary investigations suggest they crossed the international border illegally via a broker in West Bengal. Authorities plan to move them to a detention centre in Bengaluru for deportation proceedings.
