As Diwali approaches, a key tradition involves placing Lakshmi Charan Paduka, or divine footprints, to welcome the goddess of wealth. Many mistakenly place these outside the main gate, which is believed to signify her departure. The correct placement is inside the main doorway, on the floor or beside it, with the toes pointing inwards. This signifies her entry and the influx of prosperity. These footprints, often made with rice flour and vermilion, should be kept clean and auspicious. Proper placement ensures good fortune and wards off poverty.

दिवाली नज़दीक आने के साथ ही धन की देवी का स्वागत करने के लिए लक्ष्मी चरण पादुका, यानी दिव्य पदचिह्नों को रखने की एक महत्वपूर्ण परंपरा है। कई लोग गलती से इन्हें मुख्य द्वार के बाहर रख देते हैं, जिसे उनकी विदाई का संकेत माना जाता है। सही जगह मुख्य दरवाजे के अंदर, फर्श पर या उसके बगल में होती है, जिसमें उंगलियां अंदर की ओर इशारा करती हों। यह उनके प्रवेश और समृद्धि के प्रवाह का प्रतीक है। चावल के आटे और सिंदूर से बने इन पदचिह्नों को साफ और शुभ रखना चाहिए। सही जगह रखने से सौभाग्य सुनिश्चित होता है और गरीबी दूर रहती है।
