Nigeria has confirmed an Ebola case in a female patient who travelled from Uganda to Abuja. Health Minister Muhammad Ali Pate stated laboratory tests confirmed the diagnosis. The patient, reportedly the wife of a diplomat, is in isolation and receiving care after developing symptoms four days after arriving in Nigeria. Health authorities have initiated contact-tracing, identifying 44 close contacts to prevent further spread. Nigeria, which successfully stopped an outbreak in 2014, is the first West African nation to report a case linked to the current East African crisis.
