Telangana Falls Behind In POCSO Case Disposal, Faces Rising Pendency

Telangana has not figured among the top states showing improvement in dealing with POCSO cases, despite previously being lauded for its efficiency. The state now ranks among the top in the country for the number of pending cases, behind Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Assam. Out of over 31,000 cumulative POCSO cases registered, approximately 52.54% remain pending trial. This significant backlog is attributed to a lack of exclusive fast-track courts dedicated to these sensitive matters.
