Allahabad HC Finds Murder Convicts Were Minors, Remits Case to Juvenile Board

The Allahabad High Court has set aside the sentences of two men convicted in a 1980 murder case after determining they were minors at the time of the crime. The court upheld their conviction but referred the matter to the Juvenile Justice Board for appropriate punishment. The incident in Sultanpur on September 28, 1980, resulted in four deaths. The convicts, Siraj Ahmad and Abdul Wahid, were found to be 17 years old when the crime occurred.

इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने 1980 के एक हत्या के मामले में दोषी ठहराए गए दो लोगों की सज़ा रद्द कर दी है, यह पता चलने के बाद कि अपराध के समय वे नाबालिग थे। अदालत ने उनकी सज़ा को बरकरार रखा लेकिन उचित सज़ा के लिए मामला किशोर न्याय बोर्ड को भेज दिया। सुल्तानपुर में 28 सितंबर, 1980 को हुई इस घटना में चार लोगों की मौत हो गई थी। दोषियों, सिराज अहमद और अब्दुल वाहिद, को अपराध के समय 17 साल का पाया गया।
