Sunlight at Night? Company Explores Satellite Tech For Urban Illumination

Times of India · technology

A company is exploring the concept of using satellites to reflect sunlight onto Earth, potentially illuminating areas like Mumbai's Andheri or Delhi's Lajpat Nagar at night. This idea, famously depicted in the James Bond film 'Die Another Day,' has a history spanning nearly a century. Previously evaluated for military applications and agricultural enhancement in cold regions, the technology could now be repurposed for urban lighting solutions. The concept involves a satellite reflecting solar rays to provide light where natural sunlight is absent.
