Louisiana Landowner Restores Wetlands and Forests After Flood Woes

Times of India · environment

A Louisiana landowner initially planned to raise cattle and grow soybeans on 300 acres. However, repeated flooding from the Boeuf River made conventional farming unviable. He has now partnered with the US Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service to restore wetlands and establish 183 acres of bottomland hardwood forest. This project aims to reconnect existing wildlife corridors, benefiting species like the Louisiana black bear and the endangered northern long-eared bat.
