Japan's BIG-B initiative, the Bay of Bengal Industrial Growth Belt, aims to develop Bangladesh into a major industrial and trade hub. The plan focuses on developing the Matarbari deep-sea port and surrounding infrastructure for power, energy, industry, and communication. Following discussions between Bangladesh and Japan, India's potential inclusion is now being considered. India's participation could open new trade routes and enhance connectivity between India's northeast, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar, benefiting both Indian businesses and Bangladesh's port and industrial zones.
