Teenager Zhang Zhanshuo became the first swimmer to win seven golds at a single Asian Games, setting a Games record in the 400m freestyle. He secured individual golds in the 200m, 800m, and 1,500m freestyle events, alongside three relay victories. On the track, Thai sprinter Puripol Boonson won the men's 100m in a Games-record 9.90 seconds, marking Thailand's first men's 100m gold since 1978. China also saw Chen Yujie win the women's 100m in a Games-record 11.06 seconds.
