Trichy Corporation Commissioner N Ponmani inspected the quality of source segregation by residents in zones IV and V. She directed sanitation inspectors to randomly check if households are properly segregating domestic waste into four categories: biodegradable, non-biodegradable, sanitary, and special care waste. Ponmani also emphasized maintaining vacant spaces around residential properties to prevent water stagnation ahead of the monsoon. Officials are currently providing awareness on waste segregation rather than levying penalties, engaging even school students.
