Sensex, Nifty Face Double-Digit Loss for First Time in 15 Years

The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty are set for their first double-digit percentage loss in the first nine months of a calendar year in 15 years. The Sensex has fallen 14.7% and the Nifty 13.1% in the first nine months of 2026. Analysts cite foreign investor selling, geopolitical concerns, and rising bond yields for the decline. Historically, after such nine-month losses, benchmark indices have recovered to end the year with gains on three out of four previous occasions.
