FSSAI Prosecutes Priyagold Biscuit Maker Over Cattle Feed Ingredient

India's food regulator, FSSAI, has initiated prosecution against Surya Food & Agro Ltd, the maker of Priyagold biscuits, following a consumer complaint. Inspectors found that bran intended for cattle feed was used as a fibre source in the biscuits, with gunny bags clearly marked for animal consumption. The company's FSSAI license was suspended due to these and other hygiene and storage violations. FSSAI has also issued notices to Nestlé India and Hindustan Unilever (HUL) for alleged labelling discrepancies and misleading product claims on various products, including Nescafé and Horlicks.
