Consumer Commission Orders IIHMCA To Refund Student's Admission Fee
Times of India · education
A Telangana consumer commission has ordered the Indian Institute of Hotel Management and Culinary Arts (IIHMCA) to refund a student's admission fee. The student had withdrawn his provisional admission before classes began after securing a seat elsewhere. IIHMCA had refused the refund, citing a non-refundable fee clause. The commission ruled that the institute could not retain the entire fee when withdrawal occurred before the academic session started. The institute was directed to refund Rs 29,500, along with Rs 5,000 compensation and Rs 5,000 for litigation costs.
