Married Daughter's Land Claim Protected by HC Under Hindu Succession Act
Times of India - Business · business
The Himachal Pradesh High Court has ruled in favour of a married daughter's claim to agricultural land allotted to her deceased father in 1972. The land was granted under Nautor rules, but the formal land revenue document was never signed. After her father's death in 1990 and her mother's in 2012, the daughter sought the document. Revenue authorities rejected her claim, citing ineligibility for married daughters under Nautor rules. The daughter argued she was a Class I legal heir under the Hindu Succession Act, not seeking a new allotment.
