ECI Caps Form 7 Applications To Prevent Misuse And Administrative Burden
Mint · politics
The Election Commission of India has directed chief electoral officers to limit the number of Form 7 applications an individual can submit. This move aims to curb the misuse of the form, which allows voters to challenge electoral roll entries. Recent controversies involved bulk unsubstantiated objections, causing inconvenience and administrative strain. Under new guidelines, individuals can file a maximum of 10 Form 7 applications during claims and objections periods, and five per month during continuous updation. This aims to ensure the integrity of electoral rolls and streamline election processes.
