Times of India · good-news

An IT employee in Tamil Nadu, inspired by a gram sabha meeting in 2018, formed a 43-member civic association to address local issues. The Vellur Makkal Nala Sangam has successfully restored drinking water supply to hundreds of households and supported the planting of nearly 700 saplings. The group also secured land and funds for a dedicated burial ground for Scheduled Caste residents after years of petitions. Their efforts demonstrate the power of community mobilisation and the effective use of government channels like the Chief Minister's Special Cell and RTI.
