11 Tonnes of Banned Tobacco Products Worth ₹3 Crore Seized in Koratty

Thrissur Rural police seized nearly 11 tonnes of banned tobacco products, valued at approximately ₹3 crore, from a lorry on the national highway at Koratty as part of Operation Toofan. Two individuals were arrested during the operation, which also led to the confiscation of the lorry. The police discovered 3,76,500 packets of contraband hidden beneath onion sacks. This seizure is considered one of the largest recent hauls of such products in central Kerala, with the consignment reportedly en route from Bengaluru to Kalady.

त्रिशूर ग्रामीण पुलिस ने ऑपरेशन तूफान के तहत कोराट्टी में राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर एक लॉरी से लगभग ₹3 करोड़ के मूल्य के करीब 11 टन प्रतिबंधित तंबाकू उत्पाद जब्त किए। इस ऑपरेशन के दौरान दो लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया और लॉरी को भी जब्त कर लिया गया। पुलिस ने प्याज की बोरियों के नीचे छिपाए हुए 3,76,500 पैकेट अवैध माल का पता लगाया। यह जब्ती मध्य केरल में हाल ही में ऐसे उत्पादों की सबसे बड़ी बरामदगी में से एक मानी जा रही है, और यह खेप कथित तौर पर बेंगलुरु से कलाडी जा रही थी।
