The Keralam government has granted in-principle administrative sanction for a new fishing harbour at Vizhinjam. This project includes constructing a breakwater to improve the existing harbour's entrance stability. The first phase will be implemented by AVPPL as part of the Vizhinjam International Seaport Project, fulfilling an environmental clearance commitment. Physical wave model studies were conducted, leading to a revised harbour configuration with a 235-meter breakwater and a 500-meter fishery berth. This development aims to benefit the local fishing community.
