During the epic battle, Lord Rama repeatedly struck Ravana, but the demon king would revive, prolonging the conflict. This puzzled gods and sages alike. The secret to Ravana's continued existence was revealed by Vibhishana: an Amrita Kund, or nectar pool, hidden in his navel. Understanding this, Rama then fired a divine arrow directly at the navel, neutralizing the nectar and finally defeating the demon. This act established the victory of dharma over adharma.
