The Divisional Forest Office in Thrissur has issued a stop memo against the Plantation Corporation of Kerala Ltd. (PCK) for allegedly continuing to occupy and commercially use approximately 4,261 hectares of lease-expired forestland in Chalakudy division. This land was leased to PCK between 1961 and 1972 for 50 years. Despite a Kerala High Court order restraining entry after lease expiry, private individuals are reportedly engaged in pineapple cultivation on the land. The Forest Department has warned PCK to cease farming activities and indicated legal action for violating forest conservation laws.
