Indonesia Receives First Aircraft Carrier From Italy

Indonesia has officially received its first aircraft carrier, the former Italian navy vessel Giuseppe Garibaldi, now renamed KRI Sriwijaya. The 41-year-old ship docked in Jakarta and can carry 18 helicopters and 830 personnel. President Prabowo Subianto stated it will aid disaster management across the archipelago, though it can also be used for combat. The acquisition is part of a broader military upgrade initiative and follows other defence deals.
