Russia has rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's proposal for a 60-day ceasefire to facilitate elections in Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Kyiv does not "deserve" such a respite. Zelensky had pitched the idea of a ceasefire in an interview after US President Donald Trump suggested replacing the Ukrainian leader. Zelensky asserted that Ukraine's leadership is decided by its people but proposed the ceasefire to Trump's team as a condition for holding elections. Russia's stance indicates no immediate de-escalation in the ongoing conflict.

रूस ने यूक्रेन में चुनाव कराने के लिए 60 दिन के युद्धविराम के यूक्रेनी राष्ट्रपति वोलोडिमिर जेलेंस्की के प्रस्ताव को खारिज कर दिया है। रूसी विदेश मंत्री सर्गेई लावरोव ने कहा कि कीव ऐसी राहत का "लायक" नहीं है। जेलेंस्की ने अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रम्प द्वारा यूक्रेनी नेता को बदलने के सुझाव के बाद एक इंटरव्यू में युद्धविराम का विचार रखा था। जेलेंस्की ने जोर देकर कहा कि यूक्रेन का नेतृत्व उसके लोग तय करते हैं, लेकिन उन्होंने चुनाव कराने की शर्त के तौर पर ट्रम्प की टीम को युद्धविराम का प्रस्ताव दिया था। रूस का रुख बताता है कि चल रहे संघर्ष में तत्काल कोई कमी नहीं आएगी।
