Delhi Becomes Fully Urbanised After 63 Years, No Villages Remain Officially

MCD has approved the urbanization of the capital's remaining 48 villages, officially marking the end of rural administrative status for all villages in Delhi. This decision, made in a corporation meeting, transfers the responsibility for civic amenities and infrastructure development in these areas to the MCD. The process to urbanize Delhi's villages began approximately 63 years ago in 1963. In contrast, Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, still officially recognizes 120 villages within its territory as per its 2023 census.
