Dalal Street investors panicked on Tuesday as the Sensex closed 778 points down at 74,004, a five-month low. Rising crude oil prices above $100/barrel and US 10-year yields at two-decade highs fueled inflation concerns. India's retail inflation hit a 20-month high of 4.82% in August. The sell-off was more pronounced in small and mid-cap stocks, leading to a nearly Rs 9.2 lakh crore drop in BSE's market capitalization.

मंगलवार को Dalal Street के निवेशकों में घबराहट फैल गई। Sensex 778 अंक गिरकर 74,004 पर बंद हुआ, जो पाँच महीने का सबसे निचला स्तर है। कच्चे तेल की कीमतें $100/बैरल के पार जाने और अमेरिकी 10-वर्षीय यील्ड के दो दशक के उच्चतम स्तर पर पहुंचने से महंगाई की चिंता बढ़ गई। अगस्त में भारत की खुदरा महंगाई 20 महीने के उच्च स्तर 4.82% पर पहुँच गई थी। BSE की मार्केट कैप में लगभग ₹9.
