Jamia Students End Protest After University Agrees To Student Union Constitution

Jamia Millia Islamia students have ended their prolonged agitation after the university administration agreed to implement the student union constitution by May 15, 2027. Protests began on October 12, demanding the restoration of the Jamia Millia Islamia Students’ Union, dissolved in 2006, and a timeline for elections. The university also committed to holding elections within six weeks of the next academic session's start. This development follows weeks of demonstrations and online classes due to campus tensions.

जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया के छात्रों ने अपना लंबा आंदोलन खत्म कर दिया है। यूनिवर्सिटी प्रशासन ने 15 मई 2027 तक छात्र संघ संविधान लागू करने पर सहमति जताई है। 12 अक्टूबर को शुरू हुए विरोध प्रदर्शनों में 2006 में भंग हुए जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया छात्र संघ की बहाली और चुनाव के लिए समय-सीमा की मांग की गई थी। यूनिवर्सिटी ने अगले शैक्षणिक सत्र शुरू होने के छह हफ्तों के भीतर चुनाव कराने का भी वादा किया है। यह फैसला कैंपस में तनाव के कारण हफ्तों तक चले प्रदर्शनों और ऑनलाइन कक्षाओं के बाद आया है।
