Centre Challenges $99 Million Ravva Oilfield Award in Supreme Court
Mint · business
The Union government has filed a plea in the Supreme Court challenging a Delhi High Court order that permitted Vedanta Ltd and Ravva Oil to enforce foreign arbitration awards worth $99 million. The dispute stems from a 1994 production-sharing contract for the Ravva oilfield and concerns the accounting of ONGC's historical costs. After multiple legal challenges in Malaysian courts, the Delhi High Court rejected the Centre's objections to enforcing the awards. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the Centre's appeal on Monday.
