Karnataka Colleges Face Librarian, PE Teacher Shortage

Hundreds of government institutions across Karnataka are struggling with a severe shortage of librarians and physical education teachers due to a prolonged recruitment freeze. Out of 440 government first-grade colleges, 201 lack librarians, impacting students' research and access to academic resources. Similarly, 97 posts for librarians in government polytechnics remain vacant since 1998. The state also faces a deficit of 5,202 physical instructor posts in government schools, hindering structured coaching and sports training for students. This neglect widens the gap between theoretical learning and practical application in education.

कर्नाटक में सैकड़ों सरकारी संस्थानों में लंबे समय से भर्ती पर रोक के कारण लाइब्रेरियन और शारीरिक शिक्षा शिक्षकों की भारी कमी हो रही है। 440 सरकारी फर्स्ट-ग्रेड कॉलेजों में से 201 में लाइब्रेरियन नहीं हैं, जिससे छात्रों की रिसर्च और अकादमिक संसाधनों तक पहुँच प्रभावित हो रही है। इसी तरह, सरकारी पॉलिटेक्निक में लाइब्रेरियन के 97 पद 1998 से खाली पड़े हैं। राज्य में सरकारी स्कूलों में शारीरिक प्रशिक्षकों के 5,202 पदों की भी कमी है, जिससे छात्रों को व्यवस्थित कोचिंग और खेल प्रशिक्षण मिलने में बाधा आ रही है। इस अनदेखी से शिक्षा में सैद्धांतिक ज्ञान और व्यावहारिक अनुप्रयोग के बीच की खाई और चौड़ी हो रही है।
