A coral reef off the coast of Benin, believed to be dead since the 1960s, has been rediscovered alive and thriving. Old surveys from the 1960s, primarily conducted to identify fishing locations, had initially marked the reef as depleted. The recent discovery, made possible by an underwater drone, highlights the resilience of marine ecosystems and the potential for previously overlooked areas to harbor significant biodiversity.
